Hostage Negotiations...

Don't you hate it when someone just doesn't take the hint? Like okay, yes we had a party and yes it was fun but that was TWELVE hours ago...GO HOME!!! Like seriously, that stubborn thing is not at all cute. Actually, it's the complete polar opposite of cute.

Not a party-er? Partier? Okay whatevs, you know what I meant.  How about this...You're at your desk in your office diligently working on that report that your boss has demanded (aka surfing the net, being on the book, checking tweets, on the gram) and that co-worker (yes THAT one) the one who wants to tell you ALLLLL about, well, their ENTIRE LIFE! (oh, they're 77 so this could take awhile) Meanwhile, you're like puh-lease go! I'm missing something on the gram/book/tweet/space (ok, is the "space" still a thing? LOL) So you smile and tolerate their presence because you're nice but inside you're screaming OMG!!! LEAVE! Basically, it's a hostage sitch.
No? Can't relate to either story? Hmm...GASP!  Then
YOU'RE the one who doesn't know when to leave. YOU'RE the hostage taker!

No? Ok, how about this...
That guy/girl you've been crushing on...MAAAANNNNNN, they just really do it for you, right? Great smile, beautiful face, nice a**, ahem. They feel the same about you...or at least they did. Now, you're the one doing all the chasing, clinging, accepting all the excuses for all the canceled plans. Their calls have decreased, the "good morning beautiful" texts have all but stopped or turned into "GM" but you're still holding out hope. Maybe they're busy...or maybe this is normal...Maybe...

Hey, Mackgurl!!!You said I was the hostage taker! But if they are doing all that then clearly they aren't being held hostage by me!

Hey, You! I never said who was being held hostage. The hostage in this case is YOU! You are holding yourself hostage by clinging so tightly to someone who's clearly running in the opposite direction from you (maybe even to someone else?). Meanwhile, you're keeping yourself from meeting the person meant for you.

Someone wise once said (No, IDK who) you can't make someone stay with you if they want to leave. If you do, you will only succeed in making both of your lives miserable.

Let them go! No scratch that, they're already gone. Trust me. I understand you and this person were vibing and texting each other every single day - but things - people -  change.
Time for you to give yourself the all clear to move on. Take off that vest, put down your weapons...take some deep breaths...back away slowly. That's right.
You're free...

Peace,
Mackgurl

Work It

I found an old photo of me from many moons ago. I'm talking acid washed jeans, big glasses, big hair - the whole 9 yards. It's just a casual shot - me and a friend chilling on the couch (uh, no I don't plan to post it LOL) - but it got me thinking about yester-year or days of old (sheesh, that sounds kinda knightly)...You know, those days when your biggest worries included "are the quarter pounder combos on sale this week? Is HE going to ask me out? For Prom??" (HE didn't but I went to prom anyway and had a BLAST!) This is also about the time I got my first taste of adulthood - A JOB! A real one! Like actually doing things for someone other than my parents and grandparents in order to maintain my allowance (yes, I was one of those kids). Employee ID, Clock-In/Out, an actual check - shoot couldn't tell me nothing. I was a working WOMAN after all (okay so a working TEEN but still, LOL)  Guess where I worked? No, go ahead I'll wait... Time's u...

You Don't Have To be so mean

Someone asked me the other day " hey, don't you ever get tired of being so happy and positive all the time? How can you be so NICE?" I was thrown! Ok maybe not completely since I've heard a little about this before. "You always have a smile on your face...you're so happy...you're so NICE to EVERYBODY...I really like talking to you...thank you for being so kind...-it's rare" Even though I've heard these comments before, it still surprises me a little. Not that people think I'm nice but that so many people experience the opposite - often enough that they are shocked enough to comment. Makes you, ok me, wonder why are so many people not nice? Just plain old mean? How do they get that way? Can't make me believe that people are born that way...hmm course i have a seen pictures of newborn babies with some pretty mean mugs. Looking like they've been here before and experienced all the atrocities of life ALREADY!  But really - why?  ...

Very Superstitious

Do you think black cats portend bad tidings? Are you triskaidekaphobic (fear of the number 13)? Growing up, I used to hear all sorts of things that were supposedly bad luck or could bring on something that you'd rather not, well, bring on. There was the one about walking under a ladder...or how many of you remember that little ditty about stepping on a crack and breaking your Mama's back? Yeah? I thought you might LOL  I asked a few people about any superstitions that they may have heard/been told. Not all of them are omens of doom and gloom. Some are kinda funny and some you might even want to have happen. Like this first one: If palm of your left hand is itching, you're going to receive some money.       Okay, that's a superstition that I can deal with. Now don't go rubbing your left hand on poison ivy to make your palm itchy to get money. The only thing you're going to do is end up with itchy palms that will spread and have you bathing in oatmeal and ch...
