Look before you eat...

Hello folks! This is NOT the Super Bowl party snack post. (check back tomorrow for that one). But it is related to food (smile)

This post is a cautionary tale about food - specifically MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE YOU EAT IT! A friend and coworker of mine visited an establishment who was offering FREE bagels today. How wonderful! I really enjoy bagels from this particular restaurant. And who doesn't like. FREE, right?Well, imagine her surprise when she reached into her a bag for delightful wheel of bready goodness and finds a little something extra:

The heck is THAT??!?!?!!

What do you think this something extra is? (no, I'm not talking about the raisin) Look closely at the top of the bagel. Do you see those tawny colored rope-y looking things? I was hoping it was a piece of the paper bag the company put her FREE bagels in. But honestly, she I both had the same thought - "It looks like strands of WEAVE/BRAID EXTENSIONS!!!" GASP! My buddy was not happy about this little extra BONUS at all!

So, she put all 3 of the FREE bagels back in their bag and took them right back to the vendor. They quickly told her it was a piece of BURLAP not WEAVE. Hmm, that makes it all better, huh? Well, it just makes me wonder where the BURLAP came from and what was it doing chilling on the bagels?? Did they offer her a refund? Uh, nope - the bagels were free. Did they offer her an apology and free bagels for life? Maybe she will comment and let us know...

My friend asked me if I was still going to eat my FREE bagels. Luckily, I had already had breakfast so this wasn't a big factor for me. Will I eat the ones I have?? Probably. Will I be UBER-cautious before toasting and eating the bagel?? Abso-freaking-lutely!!!

Un-be-WEAVE-able!!!!

  1. Again I remain speechless!

  2. After viewing some similar burlap pics unfortunately I have concluded that the piece of so called burlap is really a piece of cheap hair that was then tempted to be some sort of Senegalese twist of a braid...eewwwww smh Thanks for the laugh Mackgurl

Oscar Chronicles - All By Myself

Hola, mis amigos. I'm not going to ask if you missed me because - well, I already know you did. But more than that, I'm not going to ask because I'm sad, angry and hungry. Okay, perhaps I'm always interested in some snacks...Anyway, your Oscar is sad. Why? Is because a couple of weeks ago mi persona favorito decided to remodel his room. No really! He took all of the things out of the room - even my bed! At first I was angry thinking that he was kicking me out! He even took down his posters and emptied his closet! But then I started seeing him bringing some stuff back. Several pairs of his zapatos, some shirts and chaquetas. Some things he even put in the basura! Things that were too small or too old - you know how they do, right? So yes,  A MAJOR CLEANING. His room was like SUPER CLEAN.  He and his Papa also bought in new stuff. New zapatos, shirts, pants. The new stuff he put into a new bag. Nice! Good storage. It even has wheels!! So he can move it around a lot easi...

Who are you? - Tra

I’m admittedly curious about, well, quite a few things. But perhaps I am the most interested in people. Why they do the things they do…their likes, dislikes, dreams and aspirations. Sooooooo I figured, why not ask a few people a few things about themselves. I’m going to try to convince , cajole, coerce ,  beg , ask a few people to take a few minutes to talk about their favorite subject - THEMSELVES. This is the first in what I hope will be many entries in the series   WHO ARE YOU? My first victim , guinea pig, test subject, guest is Tra.   I had the pleasure of interviewing him this afternoon. Here’s what he had to say: Mackgurl: Tra,thank you for agreeing to chat with me today. Tra: My pleasure. Mackgurl: Okay so no pressure just a few questions to help us learn about you. Ready? Tra: Ready Mackgurl: Great! First question. - What do you do? And by that I mean, for a living? Tra: I sell Kirby vacuums. Mackgurl: A salesman! Very nice! How...

You Don't Have To be so mean

Someone asked me the other day " hey, don't you ever get tired of being so happy and positive all the time? How can you be so NICE?" I was thrown! Ok maybe not completely since I've heard a little about this before. "You always have a smile on your face...you're so happy...you're so NICE to EVERYBODY...I really like talking to you...thank you for being so kind...-it's rare" Even though I've heard these comments before, it still surprises me a little. Not that people think I'm nice but that so many people experience the opposite - often enough that they are shocked enough to comment. Makes you, ok me, wonder why are so many people not nice? Just plain old mean? How do they get that way? Can't make me believe that people are born that way...hmm course i have a seen pictures of newborn babies with some pretty mean mugs. Looking like they've been here before and experienced all the atrocities of life ALREADY!  But really - why?  ...
