Why I want a NOOK

I admit that I'm a a bit of a gadget girl but man oh man do I ever want a Nook! Okay - wait, it's not what you think. Sheesh. A Nook is a this nifty little invention for avid readers like moi! I suppose the when-ever-I-get-a-spare-moment reader could benefit from it, too.

Is it not gorgeous? This little guy will allow me to read books electronically! No more trying to find storage space for all my books - and believe me, there are quite a few. No more papercuts - ok so that may be a slight exaggeration - but it could happen. Really, people, this little gizmo can do for my books would my iPod did for my CD's. We're talking endless shelf space here folks.
The Nook is Barnes and Noble's version of the eReader. I believe Sony has one as does Amazon. But it's the Nook for me. Why:

  •  it's wireless
  • can lend ebooks to other Nook readers for 14 days
  • has wi-fi access
  • it is gorgeous :D
With the Nook, you can simply download the books you would like to read onto your Nook. These are called ebooks. Now, I'm sure the Sony ereader and the Amazon Kindle both have similar capabilities - but this isn't an entry about them. I want a NOOK! Ahem, as I was saying...you can download the ebooks directly from the Barnes and Noble website.AND if you're lucky enough to own one of these dynamos, you can download books for FREE in the Barnes and Noble store! FREE!  You can also play chess and sudoku on your Nook when you need a break from reading, or when you run out of books -if you're like me and never seem to have enough books to read (smile).

The Nook also allows you to adjust the font size. This would be a great tool for readers with vision problems.

Currently retailing for $259, the Nook is the answer to my book storage problem. Not to mention, it would be a lot easier to read a screen then it would be to muffle the noise of turning pages of a secreted novel at a conference. Shhh, that's our little secret.

So dear readers, family and friends, in closing I will leave you with this final thought - my birthday is in about 6 weeks.

    Barnes and Noble just dropped the price on the Nook! less than $200 now!

Hello folks! This is NOT the Super Bowl party snack post. (check back tomorrow for that one). You Don't Have To be so mean

Someone asked me the other day " hey, don't you ever get tired of being so happy and positive all the time? How can you be so NICE?" I was thrown! Ok maybe not completely since I've heard a little about this before. "You always have a smile on your face...you're so happy...you're so NICE to EVERYBODY...I really like talking to you...thank you for being so kind...-it's rare" Even though I've heard these comments before, it still surprises me a little. Not that people think I'm nice but that so many people experience the opposite - often enough that they are shocked enough to comment. Makes you, ok me, wonder why are so many people not nice? Deal Me In

A while back, I posted about being held hostage. See, that article was about...well I don't want to go into too much detail in case you haven't had a chance to read it yet (hint hint). Suffice it to say it was about being in a situation you'd rather not be in. Maybe you've been super fortunate not to have found yourself in a situation like that...until now. And who is your hostage taker? Say hello to COVID-19...UGH!  This virus has spread so rapidly and doesn't discriminate - everyone is a potential victim or carrier/transmitter. The best way to slow down what has become a pandemic is to limit exposure. To what? Well basically PEOPLE! Schools are closed, most businesses are closed - unless they are essential (hospitals, supermarkets, pharmacies...) restaurants are open but only for takeout or delivery. No movie theater, no malls, no parties. WE are basically on restriction! House arrest without the ankle monitors... If you're married/partnered - ok so maybe ...
