Who are you, Shaft?

Hey Hey Hey. Guess what? I was have secured another guest for the WHO ARE YOU? series! Whoop Whoop!!! Exciting right? I knooooow!!! Get this - this week's guest's name is SHAFT!

Mackgurl: Good evening, Mr. Shaft.
Shaft: And hello to you baby, but it's just "Shaft".
Mackgurl: (Ooohh la la) Alright then, Shaft...
Shaft: Sho' yo' right
Mackgurl: LOL Well, thanks so much for joining me today and letting me borrow you for this interview.
Shaft: The pleasure is all mine.
Mackgurl: (Whoa, is he doing that caramel-coated chocolatey voice thing on purpose???) Ahem, alright well let's get right to it. So, what do you Shaft?
Shaft: That is a loaded question with many, many answers. You sure you can handle them?
Mackgurl: (Hmm, I, well, ooh...) LOL ok ok no seriously, tell us what you do?
Shaft: LOL alright, Mackgurl...I'm a retired Steward that enjoys life!
Mackgurl: A Steward? So tell our readers, what does a Steward do?
Shaft: Well I retired from the Merchant Marines... and a steward is like a chef but on a ship or an oil rig. They are in charge of the galley or in layman's terms the kitchen, lol. So a Steward does the menus, runs the galley crew and stuff like that.
Mackgurl: Oh wow!!! That sounds like that must have been super exciting. Was it?
Shaft: Yeah, lol, it was definitely exciting and sometimes a little nerve wracking. Perhaps the scariest things about being a Merchant Marine are the possibility of pirates, suicides and dangerously bad weather. Just about every Merchant Marine can tell you a story about at least one of those 3 things. Ships that go missing during storms, never to be heard from again...But now, I fill my days with camping, hiking and traveling! I'm more focused on the things, accomplishments and adventures I have yet to do...
Mackgurl: Now that sounds like big fun! I'm sure you will have no problem finding some adventures to get into. So what would you say is the best thing about being retired?
Shaft: Hmm, that would have to be the fact that I have the freedom to do anything and everything I can imagine...
Mackgurl: Oooh I like that answer. Well, if your imagination is anything at all like mine, look out world LOL
Shaft: LOL Shut yo' mouth! Tell me about this imagination of yours.
Mackgurl: LOL oh no way, Shaft... this interview is about you, not me. As a matter of fact let's flip the question...what do you like the least about what you do now?
Shaft: That's easy -COVID. This virus is holding me back from doing a lot of things.
Mackgurl: Ugh! I know what you mean. I wish it would go away...like just disappear as easily as it seemed to appear.
Shaft: I can dig it...
Mackgurl: Shaft, I have to say I have thoroughly enjoyed our time together today. Now just one final question for you before you go and I think it's the most important one...WHO ARE YOU?
Shaft: It has definitely been fun hanging with you. As for me, I am a man that hasn't begun to really live yet... A regular guy that appreciates and loves life! I am a superhero - a superhero with no super power except the need to see everyone happy....Who am I? I am a man living in 2020 that belongs in the '80s.

Well there you have it,  Kings and Queens...another installment of the WHO ARE YOU? series. My thanks to Shaft for allowing me to borrow him for this interview.
If you know someone that you think would be a good interview - or you'd be interested in me interviewing you, speak up!! Send me an email.

~Hugs and kisses (virtually of course, lol)

Oscar Chronicles - All By Myself

Hola, mis amigos. I'm not going to ask if you missed me because - well, I already know you did. But more than that, I'm not going to ask because I'm sad, angry and hungry. Okay, perhaps I'm always interested in some snacks...Anyway, your Oscar is sad. Why? Is because a couple of weeks ago mi persona favorito decided to remodel his room. No really! He took all of the things out of the room - even my bed! At first I was angry thinking that he was kicking me out! He even took down his posters and emptied his closet! But then I started seeing him bringing some stuff back. Several pairs of his zapatos, some shirts and chaquetas. Some things he even put in the basura! Things that were too small or too old - you know how they do, right? So yes,  A MAJOR CLEANING. His room was like SUPER CLEAN.  He and his Papa also bought in new stuff. New zapatos, shirts, pants. The new stuff he put into a new bag. Nice! Good storage. It even has wheels!! So he can move it around a lot easi...

Being Strong Is Not for the Weak

Sometimes you may get tired and fed up. I mean come on, life has a way of testing you…and I mean way worse than any pop quiz you might have had. Sometimes the test starts small. Broke a nail after a fresh manicure? Hit your shin on the corner of the bed? (ouch). Then maybe it ramps up to you dropping your brand new cell phone face down on the pavement…while trying to put on the screen protector. Ugh! That sucks, right? Then there are household bills...sure you have some, right?  Yeah, they eat away a good chunk of your paycheck but you’re managing. Then a major appliance dies…then some shingles fall off your roof.. Sucks but ok. It seems like one thing after another after another. Sigh... but somehow you’re standing strong and making do, holding on. And then…car issues start happening…flat tires, brakes need replacing and then transmission blows! What?!! But you’ve got to be strong right? You’re an adult and you can and have to deal with these things. You can manage, right? Yeah? ...

Lessons Learned

You know, some people are just born lucky. No wait- hear me out! There are those people who could eat their weight in pizza and burgers and never gain an ounce...or worse, lose a pound or two. There are those people who can read a book once- cover to cover, mind you - and be able to site it word for word, down to the page the section came from. (Wouldn't that be a nifty skill to have around exam time?) There are those people who always seem to have the best EVERYTHING - families, jobs, homes, cars, wardrobes, dogs, friends, parking spaces! The list is endless. And there are those who for whatever reason, they never seem to encounter a time when things truly go wrong. Am I one of these people? Do any of the above fit the description of my life? With the exception of having the best family - cause let's face I do - nope. And is that okay? No, it's GREAT! If life was perfect, with no ups and downs, goodness how boring would that be? What stories would I have to tell ...
