Earlier this week...Tuesday, I think...the local weather guys and gals began to clamor about the WHITE STUFF. That's all well and good except they were saying that the snow wasn't due to arrive until the weekend. They said we should all get prepared...three days in advance? It's just not done in this area. Now, had this been a different time of the year and they were spouting the virtues of hurricane preparedness - well, then we would have sat up and took notice. But I digress...Anyway, not very many people took them seriously. Not just because it was so early but because the last time they called for snow it didn't even rain...not even a little...heck it wasn't even really cold. So what did most of us do with this latest prediction??? Ignore it.
So by Thursday, the weather folks were still calling for snow. So I checked the national weather forecast and they were calling for at least 6 inches with potential for 10. Okay, so now a few of us at work decided that it was time to maybe take this a bit more seriously. I spent Thursday afternoon in the supermarket - along with most of the city. Searching the shelves for bread, milk and eggs. Why is it that the mention of snow sends folks scurring to the stores for bread, milk and eggs? I mean really, people, what are you going to make - french toast? bread pudding? So did I buy bread, milk and eggs? WHAT? OF COURSE I DID! (SMILE)
Friday night, well the local weather guys hadn't changed their story - except to say that they were pretty certain this was going to happen this time but not until about 10 p.m. By 7 p.m., this is what I saw outside my window:
So, certainly not 6 inches, but wait...the latest reports said there was more to come...significantly more. So, I figured I'd wait and see what tomorrow would bring. And this is what I saw in the morning:
Ok, so maybe they got this one right. Did I mention that it's supposed to snow again today? Oh boy! French toast for everyone!!!
