Do you know what tomorrow is??? It's new movie Friday!!! Hooray! This weekend isn't a very busy one, theatrically speaking. But next weekend - woohoo, get your popcorn, m&m's, slurpee and sour worm money together! I won't go into that right now, but let's just say it rhymes with "Twilight". :D
Before we delve into the soon to be offered cinematic delights, let's rewind...
Law Abiding Citizen: I loved, loved, loved this movie! It had the total package - action, drama, suspense, pyrotechnics - oh come on, who doesn't love it when the special effects team goes to work?! Starring Gerard Butler (300) and Jamie Foxx (Any Given Sunday, Ray, Dreamgirls, The oloist), the film tells the story of man out for justice after the murders of his family and vengenace against the criminal justice system - all of this from behind bars. The acting is stellar and the directing is superb! It's a must see.Don't wait for the DVD, go see this film.

The Box: Ok so this movie was sooooo NOT the film I expected based on the previews. It had the feel of a film that one would watch in a film noire class in high school or college. I won't spoil it for any of you who still want to see this film, but did you have any idea that this film was set in the 70's? No, me either. Oh, there was a reveal - well a sort of reveal that will leave you scratching your head - primarily because they didn't explain it very well. (Don't worry, you will be able to figure it out). It wasn't all bad - it had the makings of good sci-fi (didn't see that one coming did you?) but just wasn't. Starring: Cameron Diaz (Charlie's Angels, Something About Mary) and James Marsden (X-Men). I would give this one a miss.
2012: Never before has a date in history been so significant to so many cultures, so many religions, scientists, and governments. 2012 is an epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors. Cast: John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Danny Glover, Amanda Peet, Thandie Newton, Oliver Platt Director: Roland Emmerich

Ok so, I'm not sure why we as a people are so fascinated by doomsday movies (Armageddon, Asteroid, Day After Tomorrow) but we are. I go to the movies to escape reality not terrify myself with thoughts of things that I can do nothing to prevent. If my family drags me to see this one, I will be sure to post a review. Otherwise, I will just read the reviews.
The Fourth Kind: In 1972, a scale of measurement was established for alien encounters. When a UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it is known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. The next level, abduction, is the fourth kind. This encounter has been the most difficult to document...until now. Structured unlike any film before it, The Fourth Kind is a provocative thriller set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where—mysteriously since the 1960s—a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered. Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich) began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented. Cast: Milla Jovovich, Elias Koteas, Will Patton, Hakeem Kae-Kazim Director: Olatunde Osunsanmi

Paranormal Activity: Soon after moving into a suburban tract home, Katie (Katie Featherston) and Micah (Micah Sloat) become increasingly disturbed by what appears to be a supernatural presence. Hoping to capture evidence of the haunting on film, Katie and Micah set up video cameras in their home, but they are not prepared for the terrifying occurrences which follow. Cast: Katie Featherston, Micah Sloat, Mark Fredrichs, Amber Armstrong, Ashley Palmer Director: Oren Peli

So grab a friend, grab a family member or heck just go by yourself (tickets and popcorn are cheaper that way) and go see a movie. When you're done, stop in and tell me all about it. You know, did you love it, or would you rather have invasive surgery without anesthesia then be subjected to watching *fill in the blank* movie again? Whatever the review, I'm all ears.
