What's that in the background?

Think back to the last movie you watched? No, it doesn't really matter what type of movie it was...action, western,  comedy - whatevs  - the one thing I bet the movie had was background music. You know the music they play when some big scene is about to play on the screen? Or when the serial killer slashes victim #1 in your favorite horror flick? Or how about the scene where the main character figures out what's going on in that drama/thriller? Oooh I know - how about that scene in the movie where they are all in those fast cars, driving as fast as possible on the way to do that bank heist? The music was epic! Don't act like you don't know what movie I'm talking about. Made me want one of those cars - Mini Coopers, who knew! lol.  Anywho, that got me to thinking - how much cooler would life be if we had background music? Can you imagine? You walk into the kitchen to get an ice cold beer...you've been thinking about it the entire drive home from work. You ge

Are you cooking?

It's the holiday season. Are you the cook or are you the one given the task of bringing the paper plates and bags of ice (AKA you can't cook at ALL, LMAO) If you are in charge of the turkey sure that means you can cook.. But listen... say what you want, everyone knows that the macaroni and cheese is just as crucial as that turkey!!!  So if you're making the MAC - that cheesy goodness that people will be trying to sneak into plastic and foil wrapped bowls and other containers to take home to eat for breakfast (please, you know you're going to eat it for breakfast) you're not just a cook you are THE CHEF!! Check out this video from Emmanuel & Phillip Hudson...they say perfectly the importance of that good meal and how it makes you wanna groove...and beg for to go plates! LOL

A Thousand Words

I've heard the saying "A picture is worth a thousand words..." more times than I can remember. Have to admit, that one is pretty spot on. Just think of all the times you've looked at an image - whether it be a painting, screenshot/grab from a video or just the aforementioned picture - did it speak to you? Not in actual sound but could you "hear" it tell you a story? Or perhaps maybe your mind began to wonder about the circumstances of the photo. Oh come on, I know it's not just me, right? I see an image/photo and I think - Nice pic! Wonder what made them take it?  I asked a friend of mind to send a few pics that they'd taken. This one is really interesting...so many different images that I see. Like what? Glad you asked, lol. I see a woman, with full head of curly, wavy hair and she's standing proudly as it blows behind her in the wind. She's strong and confident... I see a misshapen skull...the eyes are radiating such light, with such

Visitation...

Okay so this happened after the other...encounter? That's a good word for it. The last story was a little long so I will try to keep this short.  I was about six months pregnant with my oldest daughter and her father and I were in bed. He was asleep but I couldn't sleep. So I was just laying there in bed facing the window that looked out over our apartment's parking lot. I noticed some light bouncing around outside. I figured it was someone driving into the complex or someone with a flashlight out walking their dog. Then I noticed something strange -  that light that I saw? Was now INSIDE my bedroom!!  But it was no longer light. Now it was a dark blob, shadowy, smokey like. It was at the base of the window just sitting there...and then it moved...and kept moving slowly up the wall. It crept higher and higher and I just lay there watching...trying to figure out what it was. As I lay there watching, it kept moving until it had moved all the way up the wall to the ceiling

Slayer

Alright so those who know me know that I am a big horror movie fan. I love watching them but end up terrified of them at the same time, lol. The best is when you watch them in a crowded theater, you know on the first weekend that it comes out (before folks have time to spoil it). It’s packed, dark and everyone is wide-eyed – ok some are probably squinting and/or peering from behind their hands – but everyone is just waiting for SOMETHING to happen. The anticipation, the fear is almost palpable as we wait …for the SLASHER to, well slash someone. Or better yet – the inevitable scene where the young pretty girl hears a noise in her house – a house that she’s home alone in, BTWs – and she decides to go INVESTIGATE the noise. MAAAANNNN, the audience almost in unison laments the folly of her actions (LOL – who wrote that? LMAO). We are all like " GIRRRLLL, NOOOO!!! Have you never SEEN a horror flick?” Followed shortly by “Yep, she’s dead” Wonder if that’s why the writers put thos

Blessings Activated

I'm not sure where I heard this but it is definitely worth sharing... You must start thinking like you're blessed...speaking like you're blessed...acting like you're blessed. That's how your blessings are activated...

Fantastic Voyage

So the other day, I was trying to find my way around this new city I moved to. Sounds like fun, right? And I have to admit that for the most part it has been. It has not been without incident. Like the time I was trying to find a laundromat - supposedly 5 minutes from my house...20 minutes later I was still looking. (Never did find that place...ended up buying a washer and dryer instead LOL) Still, there have been fun times - finding short cuts and little out of the way places. There have also been a few times that I have been a little hmmm not quite scared (okay maybe a little bit) but freaked out. I was on my way home from work and my favorite GPS app decided to send me on a new route home. And I went with it - mainly because I wasn't familiar enough with how to get home yet - several winding roads (back roads), no signs, lots of trees and very few people (even though I felt like I was being watched). I tried to laugh it off and then I looked out the window and saw this...

Handful of Wisdom

There have been times in my life that people have imparted a few of what I like to call "words of wisdom". And you know me - I'm not a selfish person - okay with most things I'm not selfish🤔...anyway since I'm feeling unselfish I'm going to share these gems with you. Feel free to pass them on😁  A Handful of Wisdom   1. It's okay to NOT be a perfect size 6. Anyone who tells you differently is suffering from carb deprivation. Besides, isn't that why they created stretchy pants? 2. If you fall down, don't get back up right away.  3. If you fall and your friend is around, play it off and plan to be social media famous. 4. How much you like something is proportional to how bad it is for you. Cookies, soda, cake, candy, pizza, burgers, ice cream... 5. There's fine line between insanity and genius.Don't believe me?  Check this out...

I don't sleep enough to dream this good

I saw this HOME listed online and thought THIS IS...WOW!!! Like I can't even imagine - ok so I can imagine... I AM imagining!!! But like I said, I do not sleep well enough to dream this good. Five bedrooms and EIGHT BATHROOMS!!!   Over 11,000 sqft!!! So how much for all of this? The monthly payment estimate is $21,000!!! A MONTH??!! Or if you wanna pay in full - $4,200,000.00. If someone is interested in a house, I found you one. (YOU'RE WELCOME, LOL!) Just click on the link under the photo, contact the rep at the agency and set up an appointment. Oh, and if you want me to take a look at it with you, just let me know...IJS If you do purchase this beautiful home, I sincerely hope I'm on the house warming party invitation list. Oh AND if you buy this gorgeous home, I need to know what you do for a living to afford a $21K/month mortgage PLUS utilities, housekeeping, yard maintenance, FOOD... etc. and one more thing - ARE THEY HIRING??

Let's Exercise!

Hey! It's been a minute since I chatted with you guys, so I thought we could jump back in with a little exercise! Yay!! Now come on - don't be like that. A little exercise never hurt anyone..okay perhaps these people might have gotten hurt:     But that's NOT the type of exercise I mean. Close your eyes - WAIT! You can't read if your eyes are closed. Hmm ok so keep your eyes open and picture the one person who makes you smile. That one person who you just can't wait to see, be around, call, text, whatever... (Bet you're grinning already). See, that person didn't even have to be around - you didn't call them, you didn't text them - all you did was think about them and now you're grinning. How do they do it? How do they make you smile like a Cheshire cat? Maybe it's a shared memory between the two of you or maybe it's the way their eyes light up, full on sparkle when they see you. Or the way your stomach flutters and flips when you

Characters

It's easy to do but let us not confuse the characters in this story... His actions hurt and shattered me... Hers were careless and broke your heart... He was a cheat... She left you... But all that happened long ago... Before you met me and I met you... I bid him and his hurts good bye... And if she with her actions and words left you broken... Toss those thoughts aside... No broken promises, no heartless words, no painful memories... The characters have been rewritten... You are not him and I am not her... There's  only you and only me.

Very Superstitious

Do you think black cats portend bad tidings? Are you triskaidekaphobic (fear of the number 13)? Growing up, I used to hear all sorts of things that were supposedly bad luck or could bring on something that you'd rather not, well, bring on. There was the one about walking under a ladder...or how many of you remember that little ditty about stepping on a crack and breaking your Mama's back? Yeah? I thought you might LOL  I asked a few people about any superstitions that they may have heard/been told. Not all of them are omens of doom and gloom. Some are kinda funny and some you might even want to have happen. Like this first one: If palm of your left hand is itching, you're going to receive some money.       Okay, that's a superstition that I can deal with. Now don't go rubbing your left hand on poison ivy to make your palm itchy to get money. The only thing you're going to do is end up with itchy palms that will spread and have you bathing in oatmeal and ch

Golden Haze

There I was...minding my own business (no really, I was - this time) thought I'd do some note taking, some observing (okay maybe not completely minding my own business), get some ideas for some posts...and the craziest thing happened. I started noticing a few people walk by my table, look at me - stare at me really, some snickered, some outright laughed. I was thinking sheesh, what's up? No one said anything - just looked at me, looked down at my table, looked at me, laughed or chuckled and walked away...that was until this guy walked over and sat down next to me. Immediately, my internal alert system went into overdrive!!! STRANGER DANGER!!! Then he says the craziest thing to me... Stranger: Hey, yeah so are you here regularly?  (ALARM IS GETTING LOUDER)  Me: Excuse me? Stranger: Nah, I'm just saying if you're here like on the reg, and you're bold enough to advertise the merch I'm straight going to switch my loyalty to you.  Me: DAFUQ!  (INTER

POP QUIZ

You guys ever take one of those online quizzes? " WHAT YOUR FAVORITE COLOR SAYS ABOUT YOU" ... Or the ones about your astrological sign?  "WHAT MAKES A CANCER HAPPY?". .. "IF YOU'RE A PISCES YOU ARE THE ROMANTIC TYPE"   If you did, were the results accurate? I mean did they fit you and your personality? I've taken a few of these sorts of quizzes - just for fun. Astrology? Yeah, I've read my horoscope from time to time. Most of the time the results and the astrological stuff kinda fit and sometimes I'm like - hmm, that is SOOOOO not me. Either way, they usually make me think wow, am I really like that? I took a personality quiz - basically it was to determine if you are left-brained or right-brained. Most agree now that there isn't a clear distinction and that most people have traits/characteristics of both. Here are my results...pretty good but definitely missing a few Like there was nothing mentioned about me being artistic or imagin

Cast Off

Letting go isn't always an easy thing.  It is most times, well, a necessary thing...of course necessary has nothing to do with easy.  How many of you are currently in a relationship? No, not with chocolate or alcohol but an actual relationship with another person? They text you or call you every day several times a day...you're making plans to see them before you even finish with one date...you miss them when your time together for that date is drawing to an end...you see them walking towards you and you can't help but smile, waiting for that hug, that kiss...you have so much fun with them you can't imagine them not being around... Fun stuff right? (Ok well most of the time it is - if not, get out but that's a post for another time)  Ok so for all the currently boo'd up readers, is this your first relationship? Hmm, I'm guessing probably not - at least for most anyway. So at some point you were head over heels for someone else. Each day you woke up excit

WHO ARE YOU?? - "P"

Hello there, Lovebugs! It's your girl Mackgurl here with another installment of my WHO ARE YOU? series. Today's guest is "P". She has agreed to let us take a quick peak into well, who she is and what she does. Mackgurl: Hi P. Thank you so much for agreeing to sit with me today and for letting the Blogosphere take a peak into your life. P: My pleasure. Mackgurl: So P, tell us a bit about what you do...for work...I mean if you want to give us the 411 on some stuff you do in your free time, I'm happy to hear it LOL P:   LOL hmmm well, I have been working in the medical field for about 15 years now and my current job title is Patient Navigation Associate.  Mackgurl: Oooh so you're like a human GPS for patients. P: LOL I never thought about it like that but yes, I suppose so. I meet and greet patients and visitors in a kind and compassionate manner. I assist them physically -  if they are in need of wheelchair assistance - and verbally with directions to t

DNA Testing...I know you've seen the adverts for the different ways to see exactly where you come from...to find out about your ancestors...your roots...what your "PEOPLE" looked like - or might have looked like. I'm talking many many generations back. What would happen if you do this cheek swab/blood test thing and find out something you were not prepared for?  Suppose you do the test and find out that your parents that have raised you your whole life, came to all your dance recitals...little league games...bandaged all your scrapes, cuts and bruises...taught you to drive...cried as you walked across the stages for your high school and college graduations...those 2 people who you love sooooo much...based on the DNA test results  ARE NOT YOUR PARENTS?! I'm talking no relationship at all. You start to think, man your whole life was a lie...why didn't they tell you that you were adopted? Wait, were you adopted? Or maybe - OMG were you KIDNAPPED ?! Switched at

Press Play

MUSIC!!! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!  Just about everything I do and feel has a soundtrack. Music is so powerful. It wakes me up, puts me to sleep...it's that one thing that can lift my mood when it's needed... keeps me hype when I'm already up...mellows me when I'm too amped. No matter the mood, music is my constant companion - happy, sad, excited, prayerful, hopeful, heart broken or in love (💋) - music is always at hand.  Now, you might not always be able to hear it - can't always play my music when I want to - (work place wouldn't appreciate me playing my music as loudly as I'd like) Even so, you can best believe I'm playing it in my head. Heck, I'm sure I've been seen bobbing my head to a tune played just for me LOL Here's a few that are on my playlist and that are currently playing...at least in my head:    What about you? Do you enjoy music? Is it always playing? Car, shower (yes SHOWER), making dinner...is there a s

Little Angels

New to some old to a few... CHILDREN! Aren't they great?? All shapes, sizes, colors and ages (okay so, maybe infants have a bit of an edge on the other age groups). But it doesn't matter because children are precious gifts! We can all agree on that, right? Come on, children are precious angels...made of sunshine and roses. Smelling sweetly of  baby lotion and sunshine. They are all that is good and right in the world. Completely guileless, not a deceptive bone in their bodies.  Children are the last repositories of gentleness and innocence for humanity, right? Are you sure about that? Don't get me wrong, I love children - I'm just saying that maybe, just maybe they aren't all so sweet and innocent. Your child is perfect, you say? Well, I'm sure she thought the same thing about hers...

That's Gangsta

Have you seen the movie American Gangster ? Not a new movie but it's really good! It's  about the life of Mr. Frank Lucas. In case you missed it (and if you did - get thee to the video streaming service of choice and watch it!), the role of Mr. Lucas was played by the amazing Mr. Denzel Washington. in the movie, we see how Mr. Lucas rose through the ranks of the drug trade in Harlem and how he became known as "the most dangerous man walking the streets." Set in the 1970's, this man's power rivaled even the mafia at that time. Like I said, it's a really GREAT movie... very quote-worthy. One of the best quotes in the movie was from Mr. Lucas himself... "The loudest one in the room is the weakest one in the room"   WOW! That's deep and profound if you think about it. So go ahead, let that marinate and see if you can figure out exactly what that means...When you do, see how you can apply it to your life - even if you're not a drug kin

Life Life

Life happens - no I didn't say Sh%t happens but LIFE! Now not everything in life is great or happens as we feel it should or want it to...regardless, LIFE happens. Some things you can control - Hmmm what will I wear, what will I eat, etc... Then there are those things you can't - those things that you usually say right after saying "wow, I can't believe that happened..." or " wow, I can't believe he/she did that or said that". The trick is to figure out that the only thing any of us can really control is our response to this thing called LIFE. When LIFE throws curve balls, and it will, what do you do? What are your options? There are a multitude of responses to LIFE but which would be the best response? What is the ultimate choice? Here's a few of them: Get angry... At the situation and everybody involved directly or indirectly and lash out. But hmm, how does that help? Does LIFE care that you got angry? Seek revenge...The goal is of cou

Strange-ish Things - REPOST

According to Dictionary.com a quirk is a peculiarity of action, behavior, or personality" ...an idiosyncrasy is "a characteristic, habit, mannerism, or the like, that  is peculiar to an individual" ...and a habit is "an acquired behavior pattern regularly followed until it has become almost involuntary" (please visit Dictionary.com for complete definitions) Why the English lesson? Well, I'm going to tell you a little bit more about myself. I am a pretty laid back person but I have noticed some things that I do that seem to fit the above definitions. Some are non-negotiable. I'm talking real deal breakers here. So yeah - I have a few quirks, habits and idiosyncrasies. You probably have a few...okay, I'm fairly certain that you have some LOL Here's a peek into a few of my own personal quirks, idiosyncrasies and habits: When dealing with a loaf of bread, I do not eat the ends. I detest when cabinet doors, closet doors, bathroom do

Shocking!

Since I told the "ghost story" the other day, a few people asked if it was true. Some said I made it up lol. Others believed it and had similar ENCOUNTERS . This usually leads to me to telling them the story of what happened to me many years ago. I was at home with my cousin and her mother. Her mom was doing her hair and I was chilling on the couch watching tv. I was startled away from the show on the TV by the loudest crack of thunder I'd ever heard. It actually rattled the windows! I looked outside and through the torrent of rain falling down, I saw a bright bolt of lightning. It flashed directly across the street from my house and seemed to actually hit the ground. I remember thinking - man, that was cool...and then suddenly it wasn't so cool. As I sat there watching the light come down from the heavens, the craziest thing - at least to that point - happened. A bolt hit the ground and disappeared! Oh but it reappeared though - IN MY LIVING ROOM!!! A basketball

You Don't Have To be so mean

Someone asked me the other day " hey, don't you ever get tired of being so happy and positive all the time? How can you be so NICE?" I was thrown! Ok maybe not completely since I've heard a little about this before. "You always have a smile on your face...you're so happy...you're so NICE to EVERYBODY...I really like talking to you...thank you for being so kind...-it's rare" Even though I've heard these comments before, it still surprises me a little. Not that people think I'm nice but that so many people experience the opposite - often enough that they are shocked enough to comment. Makes you, ok me, wonder why are so many people not nice? Just plain old mean? How do they get that way? Can't make me believe that people are born that way...hmm course i have a seen pictures of newborn babies with some pretty mean mugs. Looking like they've been here before and experienced all the atrocities of life ALREADY!  But really - why?

What You Think

I saw this movie a few weeks ago (Nope, I don't recall the name right now. If I think of it by the end of this post I will let you know) So in this movie, the people walked around going about their regular routines with one notable exception - they walked around with thought bubbles over their heads. Reminded me of the comic books - you know where you'd see the dialogue or thoughts of all the characters in little bubbles over their heads? Yeah, you'd see all of their personal thoughts about whatever the situation they were in or whoever they are in the situation with. Thing is, their thoughts weren't broadcast to their comic book counterparts...they were just for us to read. Now suppose that was to happen for real...all your thoughts - good ones, bad ones, confused ones, mad ones, drunk/ high ones (HILARIOUS), nasty ones (OOOHWEEE OH LAWD) - all broadcast above your head. I'm not gonna lie - I would be a reading so and so LOL But I imagine if something like this w

Work It

I found an old photo of me from many moons ago. I'm talking acid washed jeans, big glasses, big hair - the whole 9 yards. It's just a casual shot - me and a friend chilling on the couch (uh, no I don't plan to post it LOL) - but it got me thinking about yester-year or days of old (sheesh, that sounds kinda knightly)...You know, those days when your biggest worries included "are the quarter pounder combos on sale this week? Is HE going to ask me out? For Prom??" (HE didn't but I went to prom anyway and had a BLAST!) This is also about the time I got my first taste of adulthood - A JOB! A real one! Like actually doing things for someone other than my parents and grandparents in order to maintain my allowance (yes, I was one of those kids). Employee ID, Clock-In/Out, an actual check - shoot couldn't tell me nothing. I was a working WOMAN after all (okay so a working TEEN but still, LOL)  Guess where I worked? No, go ahead I'll wait... Time's u

The Streak Is Over...

Ok so yesterday was the end of my blogging streak.  I missed my daily update for the first time in quite awhile (SIGH) Did anyone miss me?  Hmmm... I did have a really good excu-I mean a good reason. I had to work - different job then my regular job but still I had to work. Here's proof... I will work on today's post a little later...😎

Cha-Ching!

Money, money, money...some say it's the root of all evil. Hmm IDK about that...I mean I've seen, heard and read about some pretty evil things that seemed to have very little to do with money (okay, maybe the LACK of money...)  Money - in most cases it's just one of those things you have to have at least a little bit of...you know for day to day expenses. For those of us not independently wealthy (or fortunate enough to have won a lottery) we actually track/monitor our money and how it's spent - aka BUDGETING . Yeah, I know I know not much fun at all. But again, if you want to make sure you have food to eat, transportation, a place to live with electricity, running water oh and some TV/WIFI (keeping in mind that you weren't born bathing in diamonds - sounds painful) then it's a good idea to keep track of your spending. Of course you could opt to just get paid and blow it on whatever and stress out about not having enough to cover your bills. IDK how you set u

Say Cheese!

When it's time to have your picture taken, you can almost bet that someone (usually the photographer) will udder that phrase - SAY CHEESE! Why? Probably because it's next to impossible to properly say CHEESE without showing your teeth at least a little bit. Ha! You just tried it didn't you? LOL Did you move your lips and show your teeth or are you studying to be a ventriloquist? At any rate the goal is to have you smile for your photo or at least have you produce a reasonable facsimile of a smile.  Or maybe you are a photog King or Queen. As soon as you see a camera or  camera phone your smile is at the ready! The paparazzi will never catch you slipping. But what about when you're not about to pose like a super model. Do you smile? What I mean is, are you usually presenting a happy, smiling face to the world? Or are you a mean-mugging so and so?  What does your smile or lack of a smile mean? If you're mean-mugging, is it because you're angry/upset/sad? I
